STRIKE COMBAT MINDSET INSTRUCTOR COURSE MANUAL

This manual is structually designed in such a way as to provide optimum information on the concepts of Combat Mindset development, as well as the negative influences that can impede it.

Additionally, it will assist any agency instructor in being able to build or ingrain Combat Mindset into their force continuum programs.

"It is not a lack of fear that separates elite performers from the rest of us. They're afraid too, but they're not overwhelmed by it. They manage fear. They use it to focus on taking correct action."

~ Laurence Gonzales ~

 DEEP SURVIVAL

"Develop a mindset that won't let you quit until you are dead or the bad guy is neutralized. Although it has become dormant in most societies, we still have the 'Mean Gene' inside of us that lets us confront danger and evil when required. Cultivate it and use to your advantage."

"One mindset that I kept firmly implanted was that of the Layered Offense."

"...there would be no hesitation in transitioning to my next weapon system. This mindset could be termed a Weapon Loop, where I always knew where to go find my next lethal system to employ. Keeping it simple, kept me fluid and efficient."

Ret. U.S. Army MSG

Paul R. Howe

On Greatest Fear:

"Failure! Failing those I teach, failing those on my team, failing God, and failing my family. I am cognizant of the fact that any failure on my part in what I do, could cost someone their life! That is a failure I cannot abide!"

On Combat Mindset:

“I will tell you this categorically, preparing the mind is as essential as any possible skill you could ever learn or any weapon held in your hand. Your mindset is the dispenser and finisher of the battle you are engaged. When you are thrust into the combat vortex and are at the tip of the spear, your mindset determines whether you win or die!”
